What's the Energy Price Cap and how does it affect me?

The energy ‘price cap’ is the maximum price suppliers can charge customers on a standard or default tariff.

The price cap was introduced at the start of 2019 by the Government. This resulted in “a fair price for energy” to make sure energy companies don’t charge their customers too much, but also that they’re able to cover their costs of buying energy.

How do I give a meter reading?

Or use our UW app

 – it’s quick and easy. Just visit the ‘Energy’ section under ‘Services’.

These methods work for single-rate meters and two-rate meters (e.g. Economy 7).

Remember – the reading is accepted for the date you enter it, so take the reading and submit it to us on the same day. The best day to give a reading is the last day of the month, but giving a reading at any time still helps us bill you accurately.

A guide to understanding your UW bill

The front of your bill shows a summary of your monthly charges and spending for each service.

The pages that follow give you a breakdown of your services. Things like what you’ve spent on calls, itemised calls, the cashback earned and energy used (all depending on which services you have with UW).

If you have mobile or landline services and you get paper bills, we’ll only list chargeable calls. If you’d like to see the full list of calls including any free ones, you can see this in your online account by clicking ‘Your bills’ below.

Where can I get a copy of my bill?

You can view a copy of any of your previous bills in your online account, by tapping on the button below. You’ll need to log-in to your UW account as the UW app will only allow you to view.
